Cadiz - Where Spaniards go to Play
Cadiz is one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in western Europe. According to ancient chronicles, it was founded, by the Phoenicians 80 years after the Trojan wars, which would have been around 1104 BCE. It was originally an island which made it an ideal trading post for the Phoenicians. It has since been connected to the mainland, forming more of a peninsula today. Today, it's a sleepy town on the southwest coast of Spain that has become a vacation spot. We fell in love with it.
Some of the most beautiful beaches, where doing nothing came very easy. We'd love to tell you all the things we did, but we can't, because we didn't.
As we were heading to the train station, Susanne was using Google Translate and working on her Spanish by talking to the taxi driver. The benefits of a captive audience. The driver understood her Spanish and was smiling the whole way and challenging her with new words.
Here's a snapshot of Google Earth's view of Cadiz. At 6 kilometers from top to bottom and 1 kilometer wide, our taxi driver described it as the perfect size for a town. Who are we to disagree. Notice the shallow shoals all around and the long beach.

So here are pictures of the perfect place to do nothing. The word of the day is heal. To your health 💓
